RxCADRE Prescribe Wildfire, Eglin Airforce Base
The US Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the US Forest Service (USFS) conducted RQ-11A Raven flight operations during a prescribed burn at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, February 2011. The RxCADRE event (Prescribed Fire Combustion and Atmospheric Dynamics Research Experiments) occurs on a biannual basis in conjunction with the Air Force and several fire researchers across the nation.
The UAS operations streamed live video to fire command and as a proof of concept "testing" mission. Live video was collected during two flights utilizing the Raven's IR thermal and ectro-optical (natural color) camera in support of wildfire management and operations. Enhancements to the Raven's video exploitation platform were tested during the 1,800 acre prescribed burn. March 2011 AUSVI Magazine Article ![]() Mission Poster ![]()
