RxCADRE Prescribe Wildfire, Eglin Airforce Base

The US Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the US Forest Service (USFS) conducted RQ-11A Raven flight operations during a prescribed burn at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, February 2011. The RxCADRE event (Prescribed Fire Combustion and Atmospheric Dynamics Research Experiments) occurs on a biannual basis in conjunction with the Air Force and several fire researchers across the nation.

The UAS operations streamed live video to fire command and as a proof of concept "testing" mission. Live video was collected during two flights utilizing the Raven's IR thermal and ectro-optical (natural color) camera in support of wildfire management and operations. Enhancements to the Raven's video exploitation platform were tested during the 1,800 acre prescribed burn.
